  • One thing many people don’t know is that the Ford Motor Company, despite its size, is actually a family-owned business. It is, in fact, one of the world’s largest family-owned businesses. Ever since Henry Ford retired from the company, every CEO since then has been directly related to him.

  • The first Ford vehicle the company ever sold was called the Ford “Model A”. The Model A had a 2-cylinder engine and a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour. It sold in 1903, for $850, to a man named Dr. Pfennig.

  • The Ford logo, a blue oval with the brand’s name, was actually not introduced to the company until four years after the production of vehicles began. The designer, Childe Harold Willis, used Henry Ford’s signature as inspiration for the iconic logo’s font.

  • Ford was responsible for creating one of the most iconic American vehicles when it debuted the Ford Mustang in 1964 at the New York World’s Fair.
